Turkmenistan and South Korea Discuss Energy, Transport Cooperation

The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting with representatives of business circles from the Republic of Korea on Wednesday in Ashgabat. During the meeting, discussions revolved around the current state and future directions of bilateral cooperation.

Representatives from Korean business circles noted that a solid foundation has been laid for the effective operation of foreign companies in Turkmenistan and the implementation of joint investment projects. They emphasized their eagerness to collaborate with Turkmenistan, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.

At the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people highlighted opportunities for expanding cooperation in the development of the Galkynyş gas field and accelerating the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India international gas pipeline. In this context, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed initiatives related to the development of the fourth stage of the Galkynyş gas field and the establishment of a Korean language training center for youth in the country.

Stressing the vast potential for cooperation in various sectors, businessmen affirmed their readiness to participate in large-scale infrastructure projects underway in Turkmenistan. The guests acknowledged that the proposals put forth by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov would be thoroughly reviewed, expressing confidence that appropriate agreements would be reached.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people reiterated the immense prospects for cooperation with Korean partners in the fuel and energy as well as industrial sectors, expressing confidence that joint projects in these areas would be successfully implemented.

Among the strategic areas of partnership are transportation and logistics, particularly in cargo transportation. Plans include establishing direct air links between the two countries.

According to reports, representatives from the Republic of Korea participated in an international conference in Turkmenistan on "Key Directions and Potential for Tourism Development in Turkmenistan." During the conference, they reached agreements regarding cooperation between healthcare institutions and signed bilateral documents.
