During the first session of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council, held on May 3, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, several documents were signed, addressing critical areas such as environmental protection, healthcare, and agriculture, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.

The signed documents include:

  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN Human Settlements Programme;
  • Project document between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization "Capacity Building for Climate-Resilient Water Resources Management";
  • Project document between the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization "Development of Digital Solutions for Sustainable Rangeland Management";
  • Project document between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization "Development of Production and Supply Chain for Aquaculture Feed and Effective Management of Aquatic Animal Health Protection";
  • Agreement on the Procurement of Medical Products for Infectious Disease Control in 2024-2025 for the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Programme;
  • Project document between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Programme "Enhancement of the Capacity of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Turkmenistan".

During the event, discussions were held regarding the upcoming steps in preparing the Framework Cooperation Program on Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the UN (UNDAF) for the period 2026–2030. Perspectives on the development of cooperation in sustainable development, including joint projects, were also exchanged.

The session approved the Roadmap for developing a new Framework Cooperation Program on Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the UN for the period 2026–2030 and reviewed 8 projects in the fields of youth policy, digitalization, demography, green energy, and climate change.
