Turkmenistan's Mejlis Passes Range of Legal Amendments

The fifth session of the seventh convocation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took place on Saturday in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat. According to official Turkmen media, the session saw the consideration and adoption of draft laws developed in line with the comprehensive program to modernize the country's legislative framework.

As reported, representatives from various ministries, agencies, and media outlets were invited to participate in the session.

Deputies discussed the draft Law of Turkmenistan "On Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency," establishing the legal, economic, and organizational foundations for incentivizing efforts in this field. It was noted that the application of energy-efficient technologies and the implementation of energy management are envisaged to fulfill the state policy in this direction.

The agenda also included draft laws on "Hydrometeorological Activities," "Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on International Automobile Communication," "Amendments to the Civil Procedural Code of Turkmenistan," "Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan," "Amendments to the Family Code of Turkmenistan," "Amendments to the Land Code of Turkmenistan," and "Amendments to the Law of Turkmenistan 'On Veterinary Medicine.'"

The draft legislative acts presented for consideration at the session of the seventh convocation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan were unanimously approved and adopted.
