Turkmenistan's President Receives OSCE Secretary General

Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov hosted the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Helga Schmid, in Ashgabat on Tuesday, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.

During the meeting, Helga Schmid expressed the OSCE's interest in further strengthening the longstanding and fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan, covering a wide range of areas.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan, following a foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality, attaches great importance to uniting efforts to maintain peace, security, and stable progress globally.

President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the meeting on March 4th in Ashgabat between the OSCE Secretary General and the Central Asian ministers of environmental protection would promote active dialogue in this sphere. The meeting discussed current cooperation issues in the vital field of ecology.

Highlighting Turkmenistan's significant energy potential, the head of state voiced the necessity for specific actions within the OSCE framework to ensure access to the global market and energy transit, encompassing political, financial, and environmental aspects. Additionally, the importance of fostering productive relations in the transportation system was underscored. Turkmenistan also expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with the organization in specific areas.

Concluding the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid expressed confidence that the traditional partnership between their respective entities would continue to prosper for the collective peace and prosperity.
