Turkmen President Sends Condolences to Georgia Over Devastating Shovi Landslide

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent condolences to the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili over the landslide in Shovi resort that resulted in human casualties and destruction, the official Turkmen media reported on Monday.

Turkmen President, on behalf of the people and the Government of the country, as well as on his own behalf, conveyed words of deep empathy and support to the families, relatives and friends of the victims at this difficult moment.

According to TASS news agency, the landslide that occurred on August 3 in the Georgian resort of Shovi killed 18 people, while 16 people are still missing.

The landslide damaged bridges, roads, as well as tourist cottages and the hotel. Georgia declared August 7 a day of mourning.
