Turkmenistan’s Transport and Logistics Center (TULM), in partnership with Kazakhstan’s KTZ Express, organized the first container train shipment from Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates on May 18, 2025, as reported by the company’s press service.
The train, consisting of 62 forty-foot containers loaded with wheat, departed from the Zaitayskaya railway station in Kazakhstan. It crossed into Turkmenistan via the Serhetyaka border point and arrived at the Etrek station, where the containers were transferred from CIS-standard wagons to Iranian railcars.
The cargo was then transported to the port of Bandar Abbas, where it was loaded onto vessels for further shipment to Jebel Ali Port — one of the largest ports in the UAE.
This marks the first containerized freight route operated by TULM within Turkmenistan.
Established on July 31, 2018, by presidential decree, the Open Joint-Stock Company “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” aims to develop the national transport and logistics system, increase the volume of transit freight, and design efficient logistics solutions for the delivery of transit, export, and import cargo from sender to recipient.
