Transit cargo traffic through Turkmenistan surpassed 2 million tons from January to April 2025, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media on Saturday.

The growth was attributed to large-scale modernization of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as improvements at border customs checkpoints, where material and technical capacities were upgraded and advanced information technologies implemented.

Road transit increased by 25%, while rail transit rose by 6%. The comprehensive measures aim to create favorable conditions for uninterrupted freight movement and faster cargo processing.

These developments contribute to the expansion of transit corridors and enhance the efficiency of international freight transportation through the country.
