The inter-parliamentary friendship groups of Turkmenistan and Georgia held their first official meeting on Tuesday at the Parliament of Georgia. The talks were led by Annamuhammet Sarjayev, Chair of the Committee on Social Policy of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, and David Matikashvili, Chair of the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules of the Parliament of Georgia, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the development of Turkmen-Georgian relations and emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening political, economic, and humanitarian ties.

Participants noted that the inter-parliamentary dialogue has become an effective tool for fostering collaboration between the two nations and serves as a platform for sharing experience at the legislative level.

The Turkmen side extended an invitation to members of the Georgian-Turkmen Friendship Group to participate in upcoming events dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

On the same day, the Turkmen parliamentary delegation also met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the current momentum in bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in politics, economy, energy, transport, and the humanitarian sector.
