Artificial intelligence is becoming a transformative force in multiple industries, including oil and gas, which is on the brink of a technological revolution, experts said Wednesday at a roundtable during the Turkmenistan International Energy Investment Forum (TEIF 2025), as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.

According to report, the session, titled “The Future of Hydrocarbon Production with AI: Unlocking Reservoir Potential,” brought together representatives from PETRONAS Upstream, Ad Terra, the Natural Gas Research Institute of Turkmengaz, Turkmengeology, and the Ashgabat chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Participants emphasized that AI-driven automation and predictive analytics are unlocking new efficiencies, reducing operational costs, and enabling the development of previously inaccessible resources. Topics included reservoir modeling with machine learning, intelligent drilling systems, data-driven decision-making, and AI applications for lowering carbon footprints and promoting sustainable energy.

The event, co-hosted by SPE and the Malaysian Oil & Gas Services Council (MOGSC), highlighted the vital role of innovation in shaping the energy sector’s future.

The Turkmenistan Economic Investment Forum (TEIF 2025) runs through April 24 in Kuala Lumpur.
