President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Thursday in Ashgabat the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Turkmenistan, Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri, who presented his credentials to the head of state, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
During the official ceremony, President Berdimuhamedov congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and expressed Ashgabat’s readiness to further strengthen its partnership with Riyadh.
The meeting highlighted the steady progress of bilateral dialogue and the high level of mutual understanding between the two nations. Special emphasis was placed on constructive cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Turkmen President noted the positive dynamics in trade turnover and pointed to broad prospects for cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, investment, transport, chemical and textile industries, as well as agriculture.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Shehri thanked the President for the warm welcome and assured that he would actively contribute to the development of Turkmenistan–Saudi Arabia relations.
On April 17, 2025, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Ambassador Al-Shehri, during which the diplomat presented copies of his credentials.
