New Artistic Carpet Weaving Enterprise Planned For Arkadag City
The process of weaving Turkmen carpets

National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made a work trip to the city of Arkadag on Saturday. During the visit, Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan Deryageldi Orazov reported on the prepared project for an Artistic Carpet Weaving Enterprise, including its location and the building materials to be used.

According to the official media of Turkmenistan, the state-level decision to construct a carpet enterprise in this location responded to requests from residents of the new city.

Emphasizing that the Artistic Carpet Weaving Enterprise should provide all necessary conditions for the creative work of its employees, taking into account the specifics of carpet weaving, and should offer appropriate opportunities for their comfortable rest, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave instructions to the relevant leaders.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the complex, consisting of several workshops, will include departments for producing large carpets, panels depicting nature, paintings, portraits, and gift carpet items. He also stressed that the modern carpet enterprise should have a special room for storing scissors, boards, saws, and other materials used in carpet weaving.

The Turkmen carpet is one of the most important cultural assets of the Turkmen people. On December 12, 2019, at the 14th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, it was unanimously decided to include the traditional carpet weaving of Turkmenistan in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
