Turkmenistan and Türkiye Discuss Turkmen Gas Transportation Through Caspian Sea

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed transporting Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye via the Caspian Sea. Berdimuhamedov shared this information during a press conference after a bilateral meeting with Erdogan on Thursday.

According to President Erdoğan's press service, during this meeting, they further discussed the supply of Turkmen electricity to Türkiye via the Caspian Sea and the need to increase trade volume.

In addition, during the bilateral meeting, the sides assessed the current state of their relations and discussed opportunities for further cooperation.

Erdogan said, "Turkmen natural gas has gained strategic importance. We attach great significance to ensuring energy security through cooperative mechanisms. We have held joint talks on Caspian transit and reached a consensus with Turkmenistan on many matters".

Erdogan also expressed his willingness to regard Turkmenistan, an observer in the Organisation of Turkic States, as a full member.

As a result of the two heads of state meetings, agreements were signed in 13 areas, including developing cooperation in small and medium-sized businesses, media, education, culture and the implementation of youth policy.
