Rashid Meredov Presents Proposals for Roadmap of Turkmen-American Cooperation

Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov at a meeting on Monday presented to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposals for creating a Roadmap for cooperation with the United States for 2023-2024 period, the official Turkmen media reported. 

According to the report, the preparation of the Roadmap was considered during the visit of Turkmen delegation to US on April 23-24 to develop the partnership between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister presented proposals to strengthen the legal and contractual framework of relations and to prepare a framework plan for various levels of visits between Turkmenistan and the United States.

The Head of State emphasized that Turkmenistan, pursuing a foreign policy based on the principles of peacefulness, positive neutrality and international cooperation, is always open for fruitful cooperation with all interested foreign partners.

During his visit to USA, Minister Meredov met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The parties discussed regional development, security collaboration, and economic cooperation potential.

In addition, Turkmen officials met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Jeffrey Pyatt and discussed major project implementation with participation of key American businesses.

The parties focused mainly on the provision of Turkmen energy resources to global markets, particularly Europe. The sides emphasized the importance of consistent implementation of large-scale regional and international projects, such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) electricity transmission line.
