Lebap Silkworm Farmers To Produce 1,010 Tons of Silk Cocoons
Farmers will get 261 tons of cocoon from 6 thousand 526 larvas in Charjew district.

Silkworm farmers in eastern Lebap province aim to produce 1,010 tons of silk cocoons, which is 50 percent of the total production of cocoons in Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen media reported on Tuesday.

Farmers will get 261 tons of cocoon from 6 thousand 526 larvas in Charjew district, 185.5 tons of cocoon from 4 thousand 644 larvas in Sayat district and 140 tons of cocoon from 3 thousand 499 larvas in Danev district.

This season, more than 21,000 silkworm farmers signed contracts and 25,250 boxes of silkworm cocoons were distributed to tenants in the province.

Gozel Nazargylyjova from Hatap association of Kerki district, was the first in the region to deliver 44 kilograms of cocoon.

According to the report, planting new mulberry seedlings annually and taking regular care of them throughout the year ensures an ample supply of mulberry leaves, which is the mulberry silkworm's main food throughout the season.
