Kazakh Health Official Expects ‘Common Solutions for Common Challenges’
The meeting of the Council for Health Cooperation of the CIS Countries was held at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat on Friday.

After the meeting of the Council for Health Cooperation of the CIS Countries at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat on Friday, Chairman of the Public Health Committee of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Kazakhstan Jandarbek Bekshin talked to Business Turkmenistan about the activities carried out in the region to combat HIV infections and the benefits of the Strategy “The Health of the Population of the CIS countries”.

"There are great opportunities for cooperation and collaboration between our countries in the field of healthcare. We have common challenges, and their solutions will also be common."

– There is a lot of work in this regard. Now we need to clearly define not only the fight against HIV, but also the treatment of people infected with tuberculosis. In my opinion, we should not divide patients infected with tuberculosis on a country basis. It is necessary to immediately begin the treatment of identified patients at the place of detection. The same is true for HIV. If you do not reduce the viral load, it can lead to the spread of infection. Currently, the number of HIV patients among travelers in international destinations has decreased.

– What benefits will the Strategy “The Health of the Population of the CIS countries” bring?

– Now we, as CIS countries, live in one economic space. We can overcome diseases only by joint efforts and exchange of experience. Potentials of our countries should be used both in terms of treatment and rehabilitation. There are modern medical centers and resorts. I remember from childhood the name of the Turkmen resort of Bayramaly for the treatment of kidney patients. Important work in transplantation is going on in Kazakhstan. There are great opportunities for cooperation and collaboration between our countries in the field of healthcare. We have common challenges, and their solutions will also be common.
